At what age did people stop asking you what you want to be when you grow up?
At what age did you know what you wanted to be when you grew up?
How many of you still don't know what you want to be when you grow up, and you're in your mid-30's?

I used to want to be a nurse. I don't know how old I was when I had the first shots I could recall--I do remember my desire for being a nurse ended right then and there!
I have pursued many paths in this life. I have formally studied, in no particular order, the following: photojournalism, English, History, Religous Studies, Biblical Studies, Music, Greek, Latin, and Biblical Counseling, individually and combined in various ways, as a part of a degree plan at one of six colleges at any given time. I have held a variety of jobs from customer service, coffee, education, administrative, and a hodge podge of whatever else came along over the years. Needless to say, I have been a bit of everywhere. An inch deep and a mile wide; a jack of all trades and a master of none.
Looking back on my varied history, I have had one common theme throughout: I love to help people. That has manifested in the sin of people pleasing at times. I like helping people wherever I can, in whatever way I can, and helping others succeed.
One of the greatest desires of my heart is to help people grow closer to Jesus and become more like Him. I have been on a long journey learning how to become more like Him, and my greatest desire is to help others come along side me in serving Him. As a student of bibical counseling, this has become a greater and growing conviction. The more I learn, the more I desire to help people become more like Him. I cannot say what this will look like, down the road--but I can say I know what I want to be when I grow up.
I want to look more like Him, and less like me.
I want to reflect His image more and more.
I want to glorify Him in all I say and do.
and
I want to help others do the same.
What about you?
